A 16-year-old girl died after a concrete mixer truck hit the two-wheeler on which she was travelling with her mother near Sriperumbudur on Monday evening.

The victim, S. Archana, was the second daughter of her parents and a student of Sriperumbudur Government Girls Higher Secondary School.

According to the police, Archana and her mother, Shanthi, were returning home from Sriperumbudur on a two-wheeler. When they reached the Chengalpattu junction on the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway, the concrete mixer truck rammed their vehicle from behind.

In the impact, both of them fell onto the road, and Archana came under the wheels of the truck. She sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Sriperumbudur Government Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
