Why it matters
This induction strengthens Kerala's police force with specialized commando units, enhancing the state's capacity to maintain law and order, respond to critical security threats, and provide crucial support during natural disasters and other emergencies.
As many as 152 recruits of the 10th batch of the commando wing passed out after completing training at the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) at Pandikkad in Malappuram on Tuesday (August 4).
State Police Chief (SPC) Ravada A. Chandrasekhar reviewed the passing-out parade and urged the newly inducted commandos to uphold the Constitution, discipline, and professionalism in the line of duty.
Addressing the recruits, he said physical fitness and combat skills alone do not define a commando. “Unwavering loyalty to the Constitution, moral courage, and composure during crises are the hallmarks of a true commando,” he said.
