Kanniyakumari District Collector M. Prathap inspected the areas around Pechiparai dam on Saturday, following the announcement that tourism development works would be carried out in the area at an estimated cost of ₹13 crore.

Highlighting the tourism potential of the Pechiparai reservoir located at the foothills of western ghats, Mr. Prathap said that it was a major tourist destination in Kanniyakumari district and attracts a large number of domestic and international tourists every year.

Referring to the picturesque view and pleasant weather in Pechiparai area, he stated that many families prefer to spend time in the area, particularly on weekends and holidays.

Considering this, an announcement had been included in the Tourism department’s grant request for the year 2026-2027 to take up tourism development works in the dam area, at an estimated cost of ₹13 crore.
