13 booked for caste-based assault in Yadgir
Police in Yadgir, Karnataka, have booked 13 individuals following an assault on five people that allegedly involved caste-based slurs. Authorities have arrested two suspects and are actively searching for the remaining 11 involved in the incident.

A case has been registered by the Wadagera police against 13 individuals for allegedly assaulting a group of five people and hurling casteist slurs at them over a minor dispute at the Gursunagi village in Wadagera taluk of Yadgir district.
The incident took place on Sunday when the complainant, Tayappa, an auto-rickshaw driver, arrived in Gursunagi village to pick up four passengers — Renuka, Siddappa, Siddalinga, and Chandamma. The four had visited the village to attend the Siddalingeshwar temple fair and were preparing to return to their native village, Chamanal.
According to the complaint, the altercation began over a petty issue when a group of local men alleged that Tayappa’s moving auto-rickshaw had brushed past one of them.
Following this, a group of 13 men attacked the driver and the passengers with lathis. The complainant also stated that the attackers verbally abused them with explicit casteist remarks during the assault.
