125-day employment guarantee under VB-G RAM G to prevent migration
Raichur district has launched a 125-day employment guarantee scheme under the VB-G RAM G Act to combat drought-induced migration. The program provides unskilled labor opportunities and standardized wages for rural workers.

Chief Executive Officer of Raichur Zilla Panchayat Eshwar Kumar Kandoo said that as per the directions issued by the Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Commissionerate of Rural Development and Department of Rural Development and Panchayat, the 125 days employment guarantee in rural areas was provided under VB-G RAM G to prevent migration.
The Raichur district is reeling from a severe drought. Therefore, unskilled employment under the new Act is being provided for the livelihood of the rural people. However, there are some migrations happening in the district. Thus, such migrations should be stopped by ensuring employment effectively, Mr. Kandoo said in a release.
In view of the implementation of the VB-G RAM G Act with effect from July 01, a drive has been launched in 179 gram panchayats in the district to provide jobs.
