The incident highlights the tragic impact of gun violence in public spaces and the escalation of minor interpersonal conflicts into fatal events.
A 12-year-old girl was killed and three others were injured when gunfire erupted amid an apparent dispute over parking at a Baltimore park Saturday, officials said. Police Commissioner Richard Worley said two gunmen were being sought, and two different gun cartridges were found at the scene after the shooting near Leon Day Park. “What we know is that there was some type of argument between two cowards, and of course they both opened fire on each other,” the commissioner said at a Saturday-night news conference. “In the crossfire, a 12-year-old little girl, who was probably down there watching football, was shot and killed.” Baltimore police said in a statement that a 25-year-old woman and two men, ages 23 and 28, were also struck.
