As many as 100 sub-registrar offices in Tamil Nadu, which are presently functioning on Saturdays, will remain shut and working on Saturdays will be discontinued, the Commercial Taxes and Registration department has announced.

State Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration, D. Lokesh Tamilselvan had noted in the State Assembly during the discussion on Demands for grants for 2026-27 that the 100 sub-registrar offices will be shut on Saturdays as the State government seeks to expand “faceless document registration”.
