The Tamil Nadu government has given the nod for the construction and upgradation of mortuaries in 10 government hospitals and government medical college hospitals across the State. Funds to the tune of ₹8.85 crore were sanctioned for the works.

According to an order issued recently, the Government of India had approved ₹16.2 crore, under the National Health Mission (NHM) Record of Proceedings 2024-2026, for strengthening mortuaries in government medical college hospitals and government hospitals in the State. This was also approved by the 46 th Executive Committee of the State Health Society, Tamil Nadu.
