Nine female students of a government school and an undergraduate student were injured when they fell down from an overcrowded Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus in Pudukottai district after the vehicle’s front door opened as it moved from a bus stop.
The incident occurred on Tiruchi - Pudukottai national highway at Rangammal Chathiram bus stop in Vellanur around 9 a.m. when the TNSTC bus of Pudukottai Division was on its way to Pudukottai from Keeranur.
Police and TNSTC sources said the bus was packed in the morning even as it was reaching the Rangammal Chathram bus stop where a group of female govenrment school students and others boarded the vehicle.
