ZAMBOANGA CITY – A ton of garbage was collected during the International Coastal Cleanup Day here on Saturday, Sept. 19. The cleanup drive on RT Lim Boulevard was participated in by 1,234 volunteers from various sectors.

City Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) Gerry Pollisco said they collected a total of 428.25 bags, mostly plastic materials, or a ton of garbage. Pollisco promoted waste segregation, embodied in City Ordinances 206 and 948, which call on stakeholders to segregate solid waste and bans the use of single plastic.
