1.6 lakh enumeration forms distributed on Day 1 of Delhi SIR

Delhi has launched a special intensive revision of its electoral rolls, with Booth Level Officers distributing over 1.6 lakh enumeration forms. The process aims to update voter lists ahead of the final publication scheduled for October 7.
Why it matters
Maintaining accurate electoral rolls is essential for the integrity of the democratic process and ensuring voter participation.
The special intensive revision (SIR) of Delhi’s electoral roll began on Tuesday, with over 13,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) conducting door-to-door visits to distribute enumeration forms and collect them back. By 6 p.m., 1,68,291 forms had been distributed and 7,605 digitised, according to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ashok Kumar.
The report balances official government statements with accounts of voter confusion and opposition criticism.
